In scenarios such as related transaction analysis and fund flow tracking, the core problem is no longer “querying a single table,” but finding interpretable links and patterns among massive entities and relationships. Based on our company’s practical experience, this article introduces how to build a clue tracking system using the Neo4j graph database.
The article focuses on the implementation process of three core capabilities:
- Unified Path Query: Through a single entry point, the system automatically selects the most suitable engine (Neo4j native, APOC, GDS) for “shortest single path,” “shallow multi-paths,” and “deep multi-paths,” enabling refined parameter management such as direction control, depth range, and blocked nodes.
- Cycle Detection: Using APOC for BFS expansion combined with temporal validation, it filters “reasonable” cycles that align with the actual sequence of fund flow from topological cycles, used to identify suspicious patterns like round-tripping and matched orders.
- Graph Construction and Fusion: Through batch queries and mapping substitution, the underlying “account-level” graph is abstracted into a business-perspective “entity-level” graph (account fusion and gang fusion). Processes like edge deduplication, bidirectional edge folding, and discrete point filtering generate visual data that is efficient for front-end rendering and interaction.
This solution transforms complex graph algorithm capabilities into a stable and interpretable business product, providing robust technical support for risk control, compliance reviews, due diligence analysis, and more.
